Possess the Land

God gave Israel the Promised Land. In Deuteronomy 1:21, He told them to take possession of the land, and not to be afraid or discouraged.

Then in verse 22, where we would expect to see bold steps of faith, the Israelites called a committee meeting.

Why do we often do the same thing? Perhaps because we really do not trust God, and we are not really walking by faith. Perhaps we want to see what we can accomplish on our own. But these are the times that we just need to take God at His word.

See, the Lord your God has given you the land. Go up and take possession of it as the Lord, the God of your fathers, told you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Deuteronomy 1:21

This makes me think about Noah, if he spent his time debating with God when he said "build an ark", we would not be here! How many people may not be "here" when we get to heaven because we didn't trust and obey what God said?

Good verse!
It's amazing to read chapter one in Joshua and see all the promises the Lord gave him.
It's interesting how many times it's mentioned to not be affraid or dismayed because the Living God would always be with him.

We have that same promise. What it comes down to is lack of fellowship with Jesus. When God gives us a promise then we have to trust Him, but if we do not have close fellowship with the Lord, fear, doubt and things of the enemy can sneak in and even get us thinking we never relaly heard God at all.

We are in a war and we need to fight and hold on to the promises of God. As we are possessing the land, we must never lose sight of Jesus.
