"Three Lies We Often Use To Excuse Disobedience"

I read a great blog from Perry Noble that I wanted to share. Take some time today to evaluate yourself in your obedience to God.

Below is part of his blog. Click on the link at the bottom to read it in it's entirety:

First…read I John 2:17…now…

#1 – “Someday”

One of the biggest lies we can tell ourselves when God clearly speaks to our hearts is “someday!”

  • “Someday” is easy because we can say it and, in our hearts know that we never actually are going to do what He’s called us to do.
  • “Someday I will get help in my marriage.”
  • “Someday I will plant a church.”
  • “Someday I will invite him/her to church.”
  • “Someday I will begin reading my Bible.”
  • “Someday I will get serious about my physical health.”

But “someday” usually ends badly for most of us…because “someday” hardly ever turns into “done-day!”

What is it that He’s called you to do? Life is WAY TOO SHORT for us to get at the end of it and have regrets…”someday” needs to be TODAY!!!

Sunday's Coming by Perry Noble

Perry Noble wrote something recently that really inspired me that he called "Sunday's Coming." It went something like this.

Who have you invited? (Acts 1:8)

Who are you bringing with you? (John 1:40-42)

Have you told God, “I am available!” (Isaiah 6:8)

We’re praying for HUGE things on Sunday… (Acts 4:29-31)

Eternal destinations will be altered… (John 5:24)

Life Change WILL HAPPEN… (II Corinthians 5:17)

So…what are you waiting on? (II Corinthians 6:1-2)

Let’s have that uncomfortable conversation… (Acts 1:8)

HE REIGNS… (Revelation 4)

He CAN save anyone… (Acts 9:1-18)

See you on Sunday! (Matthew 16:18)

Going To Unsafe Places...

Here is a blog from Perry Noble that I wanted to share with you all:

There is a desire in the church that has absolutely crippled the effectiveness that God showed us in possible in the book of Acts. It’s a desire that, on the surface, can seem both “spiritual” and correct; however, this desire has done nothing more than render what should be the most powerful group of people in the world impotent.

It’s the desire to play it safe.

Safety is becoming more and more of an issue in our society. Children’s toys come with warning labels. We pay attention to safety standards on automobiles. Heck, when I was growing up NO ONE wore their seatbelts…now it is almost considered “immoral” if you don’t.

AND…there is NOTHING wrong with a desire for personal safety. It does make me feel better that my car has an airbag and Charisse’s crib hasn’t been covered in lead based paint.

However, that desire for safety somehow crept into the church and turned what God meant to be an unstoppable force that was designed to change the world into a group of people who are passionate about business meetings, legislating morality and getting out of the worship service on time.
